The Sonoma County Fair is also implementing a daily trivia question through texting by allowing new participants to join at the Fair and playing the game with those who signed up in advance with a specific interest in contests. If you want to test it out while it's live, text "CONTESTS" to 35350 through Aug 4.
Next stop...Amador County Fair Mardi Gras! They're even texting out in the Gold Country:) The Amador County Fair used texting to spice up their email list by giving away a prize pack EVERY day during the month of July-leading up to Fairtime! The campaign is not active, but you can still test it out for a limited time by texting "HAVE FUN" to 88202.

As my weekend wrapped up and I returned to Southern California, I came across a field of ELK! I have never seen or heard this beautiful animal before, so it was a sight to see and hear (just south of Bishop by 1/2 hour or so). Also, when I stopped for one of my small moments of Cell Phone Reception in Bishop, I had pulled into a parking lot and looked up to see a sign that read, "Tri-County Fairgrounds Mule Days."
