I'm noticing a trend and whenever I notice a trend, I try to share it far and wide so here goes. For the last three years, I have participated in, as well as led, several group trainings for county fairs on Social Media. I don't think I have EVER walked out of a training without hearing at least one person say "I wish we could have spent more time creating our account." These seminars and conferences are fantastic to get individuals and businesses exposed to the benefits of social marketing, but people are so often overwhelmed with the idea of how to really get their accounts started and rolling for their initial exposure...not to leave out, which types of social media are actually going to benefit their specific business.
As I heard these comments more and more, I realized the need for one-on-one trainings, either for multiple staff within one business or just one individual for their own business...as long as there is extreme focus and specific hands-on experience applicable to their very own business. Just in the last month I have given three one-on-one trainings to people who have recently attended seminars they want to expand on the information while it is still fresh.
